Host Committee Launches Charity Initiative

PHOENIX (August 2, 2022) — The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, in partnership with the National Football League (NFL) Foundation, today launched the Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program, which will invest more than $2 million in nonprofit organizations across Arizona. The Legacy Grant Program is presented by APS, PetSmart, Salt River Project (SRP), and The Thunderbirds and will provide grants to nonprofits with proven track records of benefitting underserved Arizonans.

“The tremendous impact of hosting Super Bowl LVII will not stop when the game is over. By supporting organizations that make real and indelible changes, the Legacy Grant Program will help achieve long lasting positive impact for years to come,” said David Rousseau, board chair of the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee.

The Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program will provide grants to programs concentrated on four pillars:

  • Education – improving access to quality education for youth
  • Diversity, equity, inclusion and social justice – driving positive action for equality and accessibility
  • Environment and sustainability- implementing food recovery and recycling initiatives
  • Health and wellness – improving the overall well-being of residents, primarily focusing on youth

“We look forward to working with the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee on this season’s Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program and providing support to incredible nonprofit organizations across the state,” said Alexia Gallagher, executive director of NFL Foundation and NFL vice president of philanthropy. “The NFL prioritizes leaving a lasting legacy in each of its host cities that positively impacts the local community, starting long before the Super Bowl kicks off and for years after the game has concluded.”

Proposals from eligible, local 501(c)(3) organizations in operation for at least three years should directly serve Arizona residents. Full details and the application are available on azsuperbowl.com/legacy. The Super Bowl Legacy Grant Program application period is open from August 2 through August 29, 2022.
