The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee and NFL Green work closely with local community organizations, parks, and recreation departments to plant trees and contribute to green spaces.

TIPS FOR ARIZONA VISITORS

Arizona residents are working hard to lighten the environmental impact of their activities. While you are here enjoying Super Bowl, here are ten things you can do to help; brought to you by the City of Phoenix, the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee, and the National Football League.

  • Shorten your shower by a minute or two and you’ll save up to 150 gallons per month.
  • Turn off the water while you brush your teeth and save up to 4 gallons per minute. That’s up to 200 gallons per week for a family of four.
  • Plug the sink instead of running the water to rinse your razor and save up to 300 gallons a month.
  • Take 5-minute showers instead of baths. A full bathtub requires up to 70 gallons of water.
  • At home or while staying in a hotel, reuse your towels.
  • The average American generates 4.9 pounds of waste daily – much of it can be recycled or composted instead of sending it to a landfill.
  • Put all plastic and aluminum containers in recycle bins for proper disposal. By 2050, there will be more plastic than fish in the ocean.
  • Aluminum cans are infinitely recyclable with nearly 75% of all aluminum ever produced still in use today. In as few as 60 days, the aluminum can that contains your favorite beverage may have been manufactured, filled, sold, recycled, and remanufactured.
  • In 2020, valley residents saved 30 million gallons of gas by using the light rail transit system. Taking the light rail for a five-mile trip rather than a car saves 4.45 pounds of tailpipe emissions.
  • Traveling even once from Phoenix City Hall to State Farm Stadium using public transportation would save 8lbs. of CO2 emissions! (Calculated using ShareTheRide.org)

  • Diversion of solid waste from local landfills
  • Reduce food waste through prepared food donation
  • Coordinate the donation or reuse of event materials, building supplies, to reduce waste and to reduce the cost of waste removal and disposal
  • Offset the total energy footprint of Super Bowl LVII venues
  • Bring additional resources to State Farm stadium to increase diversion rates
  • Focus on greening projects including tree planting, community gardens, pollinator habitat creation and restoration of native habitat
  • Super Kids - Super Sharing: An initiative to collect and donate books, sports equipment, and school supplies to underserved children
  • Engage local military, both active duty and retired, through a presentation of the documentary film, “100 Yards of Hope.”

  • This is the Greenest Super Bowl in Arizona to date
  • The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee worked with NFL Green to create their largest clean up / restoration event ever – January 21st, 2023 , at the Salt River.
  • With the greening events the Host Committee has completed – we will remove the impact of over 10,000 pounds of carbon emissions by 2030.
  • Super Bowl LVII and the Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is the first Super Bowl that is tracking the carbon sequestration of its greening events to recognize the positive environmental impact to combat the impacts of Super Bowl.
  • This is the first Super Bowl where sustainable key cards are being used at hotels – 15,000 across various hotels around the Phoenix area.
  • The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is looking to achieve over a 92% waste diversion rate during Super Bowl Experience at Hance Park to become the greenest Super Bowl Experience ever.
  • The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee is committed to leaving a lasting legacy in Arizona through various greening events that have reached around the state.
  • Super Bowl Experience volunteers are trained on how to properly dispose of waste – if you have questions – ASK!
  • You can be a part of helping the Host Committee be the greenest ever through properly sorting your waste and disposing it into the proper receptacles.
  • The Host Committee will be recovering food that will be donated to local food banks and shelters after Super Bowl.
  • The Arizona Super Bowl Host Committee will be recovering materials that will be repurposed by local nonprofits and charities.
